Potato

Have you ever seen a potato explode? I hadn't until July, but look they do!

This was because I forgot to stick holes in it. I was really surprised to find such a mess in my oven, but I thought it was hilarious...until I tried to turn the oven to the clean cycle forgetting that there were bits of potato still in there. All I remembered is that my oven was messy...and it needed to be cleaned. That wasn't my smartest moment. I did it right before I went to bed and when I went into my dark kitchen a little later to grab a drink I saw flames glowing from my oven. Huh...that's not good. So I calmly went to Dan and said..."There's a fire in the oven." He wasn't the calmest I've ever seen him, but the fire had also put itself out by the time he looked at it. Dan wasn't extremely pleased with me, but I still (two months later) find the whole thing hilarious.

I usually forget that something spilled in my oven, but quickly remember when I smell something burning when I'm preheating it for something else.

I'm the same as Andrea. Totally forget about that spilled stuff until it starts burning.
I have never seen an exploded potato before. Pretty cool! :)

That reminds me that my oven needs to be cleaned only my self-cleaning doesn't work anymore and I have to scrub it by hand. Yuk!

Wahoo! a blog. I love your blogs.
The oven looks very artistic!
I wonder why we always have to learn the hard way. Thank Dan for his wonderful patience and who got to clean out the mess? Did the cleaning oven take care of everything?

That makes me feel a lot better about my stove starting on fire while I was at the door with my neighbor...

I've never seen an exploded potato before, thanks for sharing :D And you're just lucky you HAVE a self cleaning oven...we don't....so needless to say, we get a lot of burned things in our oven because i don't clean up the spills LOL
