"One Year Older

...and wiser too, Happy Birthday, to you!" I love the primary songs. They are so catchy and there is a song for most occasions :) Anyway, yes indeed it was my time of year to become another year older. How do I feel (I've always hated this question...am I really supposed to feel any different?)? Well, I still feel like a high school kid it's true. Ah well, maybe the wiser part will come in eventually. While my actual birthday was on Monday, we did most of our celebrating on Sunday, which I suppose is a little backwards, but Dan started a new rotation on Monday, so we did cake and ice cream on Sunday. We've been busy packing so I don't know where the camera cord is for pictures so no go there. Kember wanted to get me an elephant for my birthday...which would require a "huge huge" bag. So Dan got a really big bag (trust me, it was big) for the Wii game he got me. I also asked for the Les Mis music, so he downloaded that (and he made sure I knew that he bought it, not pirated it :) and burned it onto a CD for me. The cool part however was that he made the CD cover and booklet with family pictures. He used crying sad pictures because everyone was supposed to be "miserable" Get it? The cover had Kember on it, and it was supposed to look like Cosette on the cover of the original CD. Very clever I think. On my actual birthday the kids decided to celebrate it by being sick. Yea, Caden threw up twice and was laid out the rest of the day. Ahh well. It's just another day after all.

Good Morning!

This is what I woke up to this morning:

Yes, that is my son.

Yes, that is my daughters nightgown.

No, I do not know how they came to be together. The last time I saw Caden he was wearing his baseball pajamas that his grandma made him for Christmas.

Palouse Falls

None of these pictures really do the falls credit. They are pretty amazing. There aren't many places to go if you have kids though. They have a few look-out points, but not much else unless you are a braver soul than I am.

We almost ran over a snake, which would have been a non-event, but when I took Kember to the bathroom there was a big sign that warned against rattle snakes. So when we almost ran over this snake we were a little freaked out, but no worries, it wasn't a rattler :)

We saw this...rock chuck? I thought it was a muskrat, but I will bow to Dan's superior knowledge.

Caden almost wacked everyone with his walking stick. Watch out!

And we had a great time! Another family memory made.

1st food

Well, we fed Cole rice cereal for the first time. He's not quite sure about this eating bit. He's showed less interest than my other two and isn't quite enthusiastic about it, but he puts up with it, and us. I say us, because it is a family affair. The kids were excited about it, and were a little distracting for Cole.

And yes, Dan does make fun of me because I make faces when I feed my kids.

Easter

Our Easter was quite eventful...Dan was on some rotation and there was no way I was staying in the house by myself when the kids woke up as early as they did. So we headed over to Albion for their Easter Egg hunt...in the rain. It was cold, but we had fun with Beth and Jermey and their family. The hunt lasted all of 5 minutes once it got started. Well, it was still to early to go home so we went to the Pullman egg hunt that started an hour later. It was really raining by then, but and the kids were chattering with cold, but we still had fun. I had to put Caden in with Kember because the 2 yr old field was too far away, and he knew there was candy in the eggs so he just picked one up and shook it. I had to go in and put it in his bag for him even though parents weren't suppose to go in. This year the parents were a lot nicer than last year. After the hunt a family that was standing next to us gave Caden some of their eggs because they knew he was to little to be in there. It wasn't necessary for them to share, but it was sure nice! I like nice people, they just make the world a happier place to be.

Then we dyed Easter Eggs after Dan got home. That was an experience. The kids really liked doing that and we ended up dying an extra dozen because they enjoyed it so much. Dan hates hard boiled eggs though, and the kids won't eat them either, so I gave a dozen away.

We had our own easter egg hunt outside with just our family, and then we went to the stake easter activity. I really wanted to focus on the real meaning of Easter this year on sunday and the stake provided easter eggs that instead of being filled with candy were filled with things about Easter and the Savior. Perfect! I was actually going to do that, so they saved me a step. It must have been inspired!
Sunday didn't quite go how I was planning. We never quite got to the eggs, but we did the Easter story a whole bunch and they both know it now. I made a little cut out from the Friend that tells the Easter story (if you want one for the kids to color it's in the new Nursery manual, which rocks by the way), so all during sacrament they were telling the story. According to Caden "Jesus died. 3 days he no dead anymore!" In fact, I'm a little concerned. They are now pretending to be Jesus, and that makes me really uncomfortable. Just not very reverent, but we're all learning so we'll figure something out. We had some friends over for dinner (that I butchered...it was awful, and I was totally embarrased) and played games. It was a good Easter.

Happy April 1st

This is what we had for dinner tonight. Yummy, eh? It's meatloaf with potatoes on top. Caden didn't think much of it because he had his heart set on having cupcakes for dinner. I suppose it was rather mean of me, but I thought it was a cute idea! I also got a friend of mine to take a pregnancy test for me. I figured since it was April Fools day, and since Dan and I have never really done anything for it, I might be able to pull this off. He remember it was April 1st though. Ah well, he was worried for a bit though, you could tell, even if he denied it. It probably didn't help that Kember told him it was a joke...little stinker. It was entertaining for me anyway.
And these are just cute so I thought I'd post them as well. If you haven't read my other two posts make sure you read them too because I'm a sucker for comments :)
