Amazing

Boy, it sure is amazing what a little light can do. I don't know why we finally decided to do it, but we did it. We moved Kember to her own room (probably because she saw her cousin Zoie in her own room in the basement and decided to be just like her) and we are having the boys share a room upstairs. We were putting it off because the lights in the down stairs basement don't work for some reason. Well, after we bought a new bed for visitors (hint hint) I guess that gave us the needed gumption to keep going. We just put a lamp in Kember's room for now until we can get an electrician to fix whatever the problem is (there are many). We also finally fixed the light in the boys room. All it needed was a light bulb, but it wasn't a regular sized one so it wasn't as convenient to get. Well, both are now fixed. Happy day. I should have taken pictures, but it was quite the ordeal to get everyone motivated and moving, and it ended up being pretty late by the time we got to a point to settle everyone in for the night. I hope they all do well. I'm hoping that the boys will sleep longer in the mornings. Kember is our early riser, and well, we'll just have to see. I have plans to put all the toys under the stairs, and to motivate me I moved most of them out into the family room. I don't know how well that will motivate me since it's in the basement and not where people can see, but, it's a start at least. I'm excited, this should be good.
Oh, and randomly....since Dan is on call for Christmas Eve we obviously aren't going anywhere, and for the first time since we've been married we are going to start our own traditions. The only problem is we can't think of a thing to do. Our families did things centered around our big families, so....if anyone has any ideas for our 4, 2, and 1 year old (plus I think Dan's grandparents are coming) let me know. I'm kind of excited.

When Shawn and I got married, we started the tradition to do the 12 days of Christmas every year. It is so fun to come up with the Ideas, and now that Emma and Mason are older, they help and really like it. Not a tradition you can do on Christmas Eve, but a fun tradition that lasts longer than 1 night ;)

I'm excited to see pictures of the new setup. Way to go on getting it done. :)

No real ideas since we haven't done our own thing yet. I do plan on carrying on the letting the kids open PJs on Christmas Eve tradition. I like the idea of playing games and/or sharing talents.

We've been doing a fun one that you wrap 24 winter/christmas themed books and every night they get to open one and read it for bedtime. As we get closer it becomes more Christ themed. Then Christmas Eve we read the Christmas story from the scriptures. We also set out cookies, milk, and carrots for Santa and the reindeer. Good luck on finding fun traditions.

Videotape your kids acting out the Nativity Scene. My kids LOVE watching themselves when they were little!!!!

Curious to hear how your night went? Christmas traditions are whatever you want to do as a family. I know you will come up with some great ones.

Way to go Lamp. Congrates to Kember for being a BIG girl and sleeping downstairs all by herself.

We are in the, well kind of, the same boat. Isaac is on-call as well. Though we are on our own my parents and sister will be here so we really aren't on our own. Someday.

First of all I have to clarify that we didn't head south for the concert so we didn't avoid you ;) It was north in Mesquite. But we are trying to plan a trip to see you guys.

Second, here is what we have planned. We are going to prepare the house for Santa's visit; decorating cookies and setting them up on a little stand for him with notes and pictures from the kids, wrapping gifts from each other, taking gifts (cookies or whatever) to our neighbors and friends, taking turns to read christmas stories, acting out the nativity (short act!) and reading the story in Luke, before getting ready for bed we are going to open one gift (kind of matching pjs) to go to bed in in wait of Christmas, finally we are going to curl up in bed with some popcorn and watch a christmas movie together, take the kids to bed and wrap gifts for Santa.

Because Kaycee LOVES to bake that is what our day will be full of. Along with delivering them.

I hope you guys can find some fun traditions. Ours are kind of boring but maybe something will help. We miss you guys!
