Happy New Year

I went to bed at 9:30, what did you do? Now it is true that New Year's is not my favorite holiday. In fact, it's pretty safe to say that I think it's a pointless holiday. However, I normally stay up until the appointed time, but this year Dan was on over-nights again (I really thought he was done with these at the beginning of the school year...oh well) and Kember and I were sick. My bed just looked so appealing that I couldn't resist. I mean, if Heavenly Father has blessed me with a two month old that will sleep through the night (amazing, I know...trust me, my other two were up every two hours until 6-9 months) shouldn't I take advantage of that fact? Yes, I think so.
After being a rotten grouch all day today (all week actually, I'm not a nice sick person) my kids put me in the best mood ever...and it was such a simple thing. We were sitting down to dinner (which I was not happy about having to make, even if it was mac and cheese with peas...I mean, how easy can you get...and healthy :) Anyway, I asked who wanted to say the prayer and both said, "I do, I do!" Great. So I told Kember that she could help Caden say the prayer. I can't remember what they said, and really, I don't think that it was anything amazing, but really, it melted my heart and put a smile on my face. They really are precious, and I really am blessed. It's time to start being more optimistic. I guess that is what is good about the new years...there is a point to it after all. So, my goal for the new year...To be more optimistic.

I hope you guys are feeling better. So sorry you got sick. :( I'm a terrible grouch when I'm sick too. Poor kids.
That is so sweet about the prayer. It's amazing how many times kids can do things that give us the proverbial smack upside the head to wake us up and realize what's really important. Perhaps that's why we have kids.

I don't think any of us are in a good mood when we are sick...Thank goodness those colds don't last forever. Happy New Year!!! It was so good to see you guys. Thanks for staying with us. We enjoyed it so much.

We were crawling into bed at 12:01. I said "Happy New Year." We turned out the lights and went to sleep.

We love you and those grandkids. Sorry you are a grouch, but you are so cute to watch with the kids.

good choice, sleep while you can...for tomorrow you may not have the choice.

I was impressed with the "I do, I do!" If we could all be more like the little kids and look for opportunities to pray, or do anything to show gratitude we would all be better off. Did I ever tell you how amazing I think you are! Thanks for being you! Glad you feel better.

Okay, we can still be friends (not that it was at risk or anything), because we both hate New Year's.

Your family is adorable. I love reading your blog!

I was talking with Julianna and FayLyn the other day in Utah and relized that I haven't seen you since Kember's baby shower! It's amazing how time flies!

Keep up the good work with you and your family and everything that goes along with that!

I stay up until (or past) midnight most nights. But, that night I was so tired that we got in bed around 11:00, and I was too tired to keep reading. I think I turned the lights off around 11:30.
