Tolerance

Tonight I’ve discovered something about myself. Either I’m desperate to have the internet and that desperation has led me to be okay with things that normally I would never be okay with, or two, I’m growing up and realizing that ehh, they are just bugs. So to get the internet I sit on my porch or driveway so I can pick up the signal from the college (totally legal by the way). I can’t get the signal from inside my house, whatever. Anyway, once it gets dark here the crickets start chirping and the cockroaches start roaming and the little bugs (please keep them little) start flocking towards any light they can. Well, I was sitting on my porch tonight when I noticed a bug crawling in my general area. I took a minute and decided that it was a cockroach. Eh, whatever. Every once in a while my attention would get drawn toward movement on the ground. I decided that movement was a cricket. Mostly we tolerate each other. We don’t invade each other’s space and we give a wide berth to each other. I flick the flyie bugs off the computer screen (I mean if I am desperate for the internet, maybe they are too and just can’t resist even though we have our own spaces). I shake my foot if something crawls on it (just little something…nothing big like a roach or a cricket) and I continue on my merry way. In fact I noticed that I was surrounded by six crickets when I was finished. Those were the only ones I could see. So I gently stepped around and over them while I made my way to the door. There I noticed two more crickets either mating or eating. Well, they weren’t bugging (hehehe) me and I got to be on the internet. I suppose there are worse things.

Man that stinks about the internet, but I totally understand that some times you NEED to be connected. Have fun avoiding the bugs, your stronger than I to do that!

You are braver than I would be. The crickets probably wouldn't bug me too much, but I have no tolerance for roaches. Hate those creatures. Which reminds me, I read on mom's blog the other day that if you get stung by something, you can crush up a cockroach and smear it on the sting and it will take the pain away. (I think I'll deal with the sting, thanks.) But there's a random bit of trivia for you. :)

HA! This post cracked me up b/c I can totally relate. Except w/ the roaches and mosquitoes. Cannot STAND the roaches--they're okay OUTSIDE...but I FREAK if they are inside. EWWWW!!!! And I don't go outside for more than a minute after about 6pm due to being completely mauled by the mosquitoes. We have a healthy relationship--they come out and I run away, lol.

Eww. I still remember walking home in the evenings from the computer lab there on campus and no matter how hard I tried there would still be crunching under foot. LOTS of crunching! It totally grossed me out!!

I love that you can get the internet. What's a few bugs if it means you can now blog.
By the way, where did you get the picture?

Hm . . . as much as I love the computer/internet, I don't think I could handle being so close to icky bugs. I'd probably get myself a little tent to sit in outside. :)

You are brave, I probably would have freaked out and ran inside! But at least you've got free internet, right?

Do you remember all those bugs in Nauvoo? I was fine at the night show until we walked back to the parking lot and saw all the bugs all over the cars!!!!:)

Yuck, I hate bugs. I grew out of the tolerant stage around 6! Ha ha. I guess the worse thing would be not having the options to use the college's internet, aye!

So, off the subject. I am actually going with the Bott girls to the Time Out for Women. I think on the 14th. I'll check. That would be fun if you were going the same time.

Oh, AND mark your calendar. Unless something huge comes up I am going to be in St. George on the 17th of October. My friend is getting married and I am going. Isaac has to work but I am going anyway!!! Isaac has the weekend off so we may be coming your way. We still haven't decided but I will call you if we do.

You should just come over and use my internet! I don't have bugs and I promise not to bite or crawl on your foot!
